Dr. Christine Kispert King
Raised in Maryland, Dr. King is a graduate of Montgomery College and the University of Maryland at College Park. She obtained her Doctor of Optometry degree in 1985 from the University of Alabama at Birmingham, where she also received the Bausch & Lomb outstanding achievement award for excellence in the pursuit and application of knowledge of contact lenses, the Frederick W. Brock award presented by the American Optometric Foundation for an outstanding paper in the field of vision training, the Women in Optometry Outstanding Senior award and was inducted into the Gold Key International Optometric Honor Society. An active member of the Central Maryland Optometric Society, the Maryland Optometric Association and the American Optometric Association, she has served as Treasurer, Secretary, Vice-President and Continuing Education Committee chair. Dr. King is active on the Legal-Legislative Committee of the Maryland Optometric Association. She received the Maryland Optometrist of the Year award in 1993 and the Mel Waxman award for years of distinguished service to the profession and to the citizens of Maryland in 2009. Dr. King is also active in the Rockville Lions Club, recently receiving her chevron for 20 years of service. She received the Lion of the Year award in 2002 and was awarded a Melvin Jones fellowship in 2004. She currently serves as the Medical Advisor for the Lions Community Outreach Foundation in District 22, the Pre-School Vision Screening Committee chair for the Rockville Lions Club and continues her work of many years with the College Park Lions Club and Community Ministries in Greenbelt in their program of helping homeless people regain employment and independence by providing eye exams and eye glasses. Dr King and her husband have been active for over 25 years in the 4H vision screening program at the Montgomery County Fair, helping 4H students with the Health “H” by understanding more about the visual system. Dr. King considers her greatest achievement to be enjoying a happy marriage and partnership with her husband, Kevin, and their two lovable cats. She enjoys cross-stitching, puzzles, reading, music and the theatre.
Dr. Kevin King
Dr. King is a native New Englander, having been born in Boston and raised in Maine. He received his undergraduate degrees from the University of Maine in Presque Isle and from Bates College. Dr. King received his Doctor of Optometry degree in 1984 from the New England College of Optometry, where he was valedictorian. Dr King then completed a family practice residency at the University of Alabama in Birmingham, where he met is wife, Chris. He is an active member of the Central Maryland Optometric Society, the Maryland Optometric Association and the American Optometric Association. He currently serves with his wife on the Legal-Legislative Committee of the Maryland Optometric Association. Dr. King received the Mel Waxman award from the Maryland Optometric Association in 2016 for his many years of distinguished service to the profession and to the citizens of Maryland. For over 25 years, Dr. King has co-chaired the 4-H vision screening program at the Montgomery County Fair. He also serves as Lion Friend to the Rockville Lions Club, assisting Dr. Christine King at pre-school vision screenings. Dr. King served as Treasurer for many years on the Board of the Manor Village Home Owners Association in Rockville. In his free time, Dr. King enjoys many sports, especially golf and baseball, coin-collecting, rooting for his Red Sox and playing with his cats.
